With the Envy 110, HP tries not to make the world of multifunction devices look quite so sober. Rather, design rules with Envy. In some points such as the case, the materials used, and the display, this is successful. However, the manufacturer still has to work on the inner workings. Features like the integrated duplex unit are praiseworthy but have to accept criticism because of the reduced print image. There are clear deficits in the insufficient pace of work. The printer actually offers everything you could want. In contrast to the other monsters, however, it is very compact and looks very good on the Mac desk. Printing from iPhone, iPad or other smartphones is no problem due to the various options (AirPrint & print). You can even send faxes over the Internet, even if it is not that easy to set up here. The HP ENVY 110 produced decent coverage on the paper in printing and copying. The color scheme was also harmonious. Photos could have been a bit lighter, but they had harmonious colors. Nevertheless, there was a reason for criticism: In duplex printing, the multifunction device visibly reduced the size of the printed matter. The test scans were also not entirely convincing: They lost depth of field too quickly. The fact that the basic functions of printing, scanning and copying are no longer sufficient with a multifunction device is particularly true of the printer. HP has placed a duplex unit for automatic, two-sided printing in the flat but deep housing. In addition to USB, the combination printer offers WLAN in the fast 11n version. If it is integrated in the wireless network, it can be provided with its own e-mail address via ePrint. Print jobs can be sent from mobile devices such as smartphones or tablet PCs to the multifunction device via the cloud without any drivers. The HP ENVY 110 can also be used for faxing. Instead of a telephone line, the device uses the “eFax” web service. The app on the touchscreen helps with setup and use.
