HP ENVY 5549 Manual (User Guide, Getting Started, and How to Setup)
At first glance, the HP ENVY 5549 scores with its chic appearance and small external dimensions, but we are of course much more interested in what it has to offer under the hood. The 2.2-inch touchscreen looks contemporary and is wonderful to use. The menus contain a surprising number of useful additional functions such as the ability to print graph paper or crossword puzzles from web pages. The main input tray with a capacity of 125 sheets has been given increased capacity compared to previous models. The photo output bin holds up to 15 sheets of 4 x 6-inch paper. Make sure that no other size photo paper can be used. The output tray holds up to 25 sheets. It is advisable to insert the right paper for the corresponding prints because we are dealing with ink here and it does not go well with every paper. If you want a professional photo print, which, by the way, works extremely well with this device, you shouldn’t skimp on paper and then blame the printer. So far we have neglected the other functions, namely scanning and copying. As expected, it works without any problems, but it cannot fax, which separates it from other multifunctional devices. When it comes to speed, HP, like almost all manufacturers, digs a little too deep into its bag of tricks, but the speeds we achieved were within an acceptable range and we can turn a blind eye with a clear conscience. This HP ENVY 5549 multifunctional device is recommended for users who have relatively small quantities to print and longer idle times in between. The unit “printhead-cartridge” could almost be described as typical for HP. This has led to endless discussions in the past and will certainly continue to attract enthusiastic supporters and fierce opponents in the future. Clearly, something is thrown away here that could possibly work well for a long time, namely the print head. On the other hand, a defective print head is also replaced by a simple “cartridge replacement”. The 2-cartridge technology is also very controversial because the color cartridge has to be replaced when only one color is empty. The black ink is excluded from this, however, because it is the second in the group. This technology has tremendous advantages if you are afraid of drying out and can of course by using appropriate third-party products. When it comes to the supported operating systems, the manufacturer immediately notices the wide range of Windows and Mac OS versions. 100% Linux support is probably so natural that it doesn’t even need to be mentioned because HP is one of the Linux dinosaurs. From the beginning, HP ENVY 5549 was the printer standard for Linux! USB2.0 and WLAN are available for communication with the “clients”. Wired LAN would certainly not be bad, but you probably won’t really miss it either. Thanks to the WLAN connection, printing from the Internet is of course also possible. Once the connection is established, which can be done quickly thanks to the problem-free installation, the printing fun can begin.
