The HP ENVY Pro 6475 offers a wide range of features and functions for its low price. This includes scanning, copying, and faxing as well as the Internet connection and the associated option of printing documents via smartphone. The graphics, in particular, are of high quality, while the texts and photos are printed better. It is also annoying that the printer takes a lot of time and the time it takes to print it for the first time is quite long. A certain hunger for ink also results in high printing costs in the long term. The fact that the printer does not have its display, only a notification symbol for ADF, paper jam, and WLAN, makes it difficult to diagnose errors. But even without a display, the printer looks good and pleased with its well-made case including lighting. The printer has an automatic document feeder for 35 sheets of paper and a paper input capacity of up to 100 sheets. Both double-sided and borderless printing up to 8.5 x 11 inches is possible. When printing, the resolution is 4,800 x 1,200 dpi (“dots per inch”). Despite the average quality, the printer takes plenty of time. In the test, it only managed 7.3 black and white pages per minute and needed a full 1:30 minutes to print a photo. A graphic takes even longer at 03:15 minutes, but it at least looks high-quality. When copying, the printer offers a resolution of up to 300 x 300 dpi, while when scanning documents up to 1,200 dpi is possible. The HP ENVY Pro 6475 printer scans up to 7 images per minute in black and white. The quality of the copies is convincing, with around 14 seconds for a text copy, the time required is okay – for a photocopy, on the other hand, it takes 50 seconds. Thanks to the Internet connection, you can also make use of the “HP Instant Ink” service, which automatically orders a refill when the ink level is low. The printer offers a well-rounded configuration that, apart from a touchscreen, only lacks LAN and CD printing. This printer is a classic all-in-one printer with a WLAN connection. As such, it not only allows documents to be printed, scanned, copied and faxed but can also be fed with print jobs via AirPrint or similar services using a smart device. The HP Smart app for Android and iOS is available for this. This should also be able to be used for the set-up, but this didn’t work with our test device – we had to use WPS and USB. The available connections are quickly listed because there is only power and a USB cable connection on the back. You won’t find a USB port for a USB stick, for example. If you look closely, you can also see a small, white, Wi-Fi button. Otherwise, there is only the power button, with which the device is switched on or off. The HP device is Wi-Fi capable and can therefore be printed without a cable. The manufacturer offers the HP Smart software for PC as HP ENVY Pro 6475 driver and mobile devices, but more about this under Commissioning.
