Text printing is very clean and easy to read with the HP OfficeJet 6950. However, as soon as graphics or even images are printed, the very low print resolution becomes noticeable. Details quickly go under completely or at least appear pixelated. The low print resolution is even more noticeable in color printing. Even on special photo paper, the result does not get much better. The scan quality also suffers from a low resolution, although the quality is sufficient for official applications, at least for pure document scanning. Here, too, it becomes less attractive if images are part of the document. Another problem with copying is the long working time – 30 seconds per side, even with multiple copies. The HP OfficeJet 6950’s printing costs are very high – as with almost all cheap printers in the entry-level segment. Users are accordingly annoyed. But there is a ray of hope: thanks to the Instant Ink service, you can have ink delivered to you as a subscription for significantly lower costs – provided regular prints are required. The ratio is better for color printing since the color cartridges are surprisingly much cheaper than the black color. the printer masters double-sided duplex printing, there is an automatic sheet feeder and an optical text recognition that actually achieves good results. There are restrictions, For example, scanning is only possible using the onboard scanner, but not using third-party programs (TWAIN). The HP OfficeJet 6950 shows the bare side of the interface equipment. The only additional feature is WiFi. With a paper supply of 225 sheets, the printer is solid, but not exceptionally well-positioned. On the positive side, however, there is no complaint about skewed sheet feeding or even creasing due to rolls that are too tight – not at all a matter of course in this class. In general, HP OfficeJet 6950 is considered easy to set up. Above all, the process is described as very logical and understandable. The only problems are the sometimes tedious entry of the WLAN key due to the unresponsive touchscreen or the registration for the InstantInk subscription and the free months offered in this context. The touchscreen not only causes problems during installation, but it is also unruly when used every day. Long WLAN keys are particularly annoying because the number of fields does not react quickly enough. In everyday operation, however, the simple menu structure shines, which luckily only requires a few clicks.
