The HP OfficeJet 6958 is a decent printer that isn’t too bulky to fit on most desks at home or work. it’s not as light as a true “miniature” printer, but neither is it as heavy as some of HP’s earlier home printer offerings, which were heavier and more difficult to move from one place to another. The printer has a small touchscreen display that is relatively quick to respond, with response issues not being related to the screen itself. Instead, the small size of the display (about 2 inches in diameter) combined with the tendency to display numerous tiny icons at the very bottom means that navigating the menus can be a bit difficult at times. In addition, you can easily adjust the settings and printing options using the touchscreen interface. There aren’t too many options to flip through, but there are a few things you can change to reduce ink consumption or change the print quality. The printer achieves a decent print speed of 16 pages per minute for black and white printing with a total resolution of 4800 x 1200 dots per inch. The maximum color resolution of 4800 x 1200 dots per inch is similar, but only nine pages per minute can be printed, which is much slower. The printing speed is faster than many smaller HP printers, but the resolution is better, especially for black and white printing. As a result, the HP OfficeJet 6958 can print text or black and white prints of much higher quality than many other HP office printers available at similar prices. This strengthens the printer’s position as a wrap-around printer, but it’s primarily a monochrome printer designed for standard document printing rather than very detailed color photos. Since you can also take advantage of this high resolution for making copies, the printer appears to be tailor-made for offices where it can print at a steady, reasonable pace. The printer isn’t lightning-fast by any means, but it’s fast enough that you shouldn’t wait too long between pages. The printer enables borderless and duplex printing. This makes it a great printer in terms of usability or for those who don’t want to mess with a bunch of settings to get their prints just right. As far as the copier is concerned, the printer offers a 35-page document feeder, with which you can process bundles of appropriate size relatively quickly. The compartment isn’t exactly delicate either, so we don’t have to expect to have to ask HP for a replacement part even after frequent use. The document feed is also fully automatic so that it can be easily set and quickly forgotten. You can also use the document feeder to scan. The scanner can achieve document resolutions of up to 1200 dots per inch, which is reasonable for a printer of this size and price range. You may want to limit your scanning jobs to black and white documents or text, but you can get decent copies of color photos as long as you aren’t after ultra-high quality. The HP OfficeJet 6958 has a direct Wi-Fi connection as well as a USB port in case you need a permanent connection to your computer. In addition, AirPrint-enabled devices can be used, making it easy to start a job when you are in a different room. The black print speed is fast enough that your print may be ready by the time it arrives at the printer.
