The HP OfficeJet 8020 comes with its slim, simple design, which has least “deteriorated”. Nonetheless, this device is an all-in-one multifunction device with functions printing, scanning, copying and faxing. the duplex reversing unit in the ADF. This means that double-sided scans and copies are possible, but no dual duplex is installed, which means that the page has to be turned over first so that the back can be scanned – and that takes time. The print speeds are specified at 22 ipm (black and white) and 18 ipm (color). The paper output is limited to a maximum of 60 sheets and has no sensor that detects when the Maximum is reached. this means that the device simply continues printing, which can lead to paper jams and the like. Also on this HP OfficeJet 8020 model only the “small”, colored 2.7-inch touchscreen is installed. Furthermore, the very fast duplex printing function, which has been replaced by a slower mechanism in which the sheet must be turned manually, is also eliminated. Printing from a USB stick is no longer possible with this model. Only photos from the internal memory can be processed. These printers from HP come with PCL 6 and Postscript – but not this series. Here only PCL 3 is used, which allows cost savings for the built-in processor. HP OfficeJet 8020 is also a multifunction printer (with integrated fax), which will be equipped with pigment inks. The printing unit and ADF have a duplex function, whereby dual-duplex is built into the scanning unit, which means that the document to be scanned is no longer needed – and thus saves time. The newly designed housing contains two paper cassettes with a capacity of 250 pages each. With this new generation of printers, HP places special emphasis on “smart tasks”. The app, which is available for Android, iOS Windows 10, and Windows 11, enables you to create shortcuts and macros and to synchronize with the printer. This means that a scanned document can be made searchable, saved locally or sent using OCR components, for example. HP explains in an HP OfficeJet 8020 manual support document how the whole thing is set up, that at the moment it is only available in English.
