The HP Smart Tank Plus 555 inkjet printer with wireless all-in-one technology is a multifunction printer with ink tank technology. This means that the ink is not fed through cartridges as usual, but is filled into special tanks on the outside of the device. Filling the ink tanks worked without problems for us. The included bottles have a drip-stop in the lid so that they can be turned upside down and the ink filled in without any problems. Only the insertion of the printheads is a bit freaky because the top cover cannot be opened with this model. The look in the HP Smart Tank Plus 555 manual then explained all further steps very clearly and simply. Refilling the tanks was quick and the fingers mostly stayed clean. It became more problematic when installing the printheads. When installing the printheads, make sure that the two are pushed in far enough. If you do it too gently, the printheads will not engage properly and the blue latch will not close. The printheads are in the right way when the top edges are horizontal. During the subsequent setup, the printer asked us to install the HP SMART app or the HP Easy Start software, which can be downloaded from the website. The printer cannot be set up without an Internet connection since a CD-ROM is not included. The HP Smart Tank Plus 555 has proven itself very well in everyday use. The print speed is sometimes a bit slow, but this does not hurt us. The print quality is excellent and the price per printed page is unbeatably low. Copying both in color and in black and white also works with us without any problems. Once integrated into the WLAN, the printer is found on every device, even if the HP SMART app is not installed. Unfortunately, there are two downers: there is the size of the paper tray because, with a maximum of 100 pages, this device turned out to be a bit small.
