HP provides multifunctional devices of the Deskjet series for use at home. They are cheap to buy, but mostly only focus on the basic functions of printing, scanning, and copying. You won’t find any extras here in most cases. The manufacturer also has a series of models, the Deskjet Plus series, which is slightly above the Deskjet devices. HP Deskjet Plus 4132 – the plus refers to an automatic document feeder for a maximum of 35 sheets and a function for mobile faxing. Among the entry-level multifunction printers is the printer certainly a special model thanks its automatic document feeder. There is also nothing wrong with the idea of mobile fax, even if it is not clear after the free period what the costs will be. Overall, the device has definitely earned the “plus” in the name. However, the HP model cannot be recommended. Because there are some points of criticism to be accepted: The borderless printing is completely missing, the capacity of the paper compartment is poor and the scan unit does not digitize up to A4 size, but cuts the original clearly beforehand. The printer has a white housing on which a comparatively powerful automatic document feeder (ADF) sits. It gives the multifunction printer a stable appearance, but at the same time requires more space in the height at the installation site. In addition to the ADF, the plus in the model name of the printer refers to mobile fax. It is part of the HP Smart App, which, strictly speaking, does not require a printer with a scan function. The scope of delivery does not include a driver CD for installation. Rather, the commissioning preferred by the manufacturer is heavily geared towards the HP Smart app. You will inevitably end up there if you follow the information sheet that comes with the HP Deskjet Plus 4132 multifunction printer. The app can be used to control the device using both Windows 10 computers and mobile devices with Android and iOS operating systems. However, the HP app has one disadvantage: you do not get a real Twain scanner driver this way. In other words: You will only receive the complete driver package if you organize it yourself via the manufacturer’s support website. Because even via the automatic driver detection of Windows 10, the system only installs a rudimentary Wia driver for scanning. Via the support page, you first load the “HP Easy Start” installer tool onto your computer, which you can then use to install the entire driver package – a significant detour and not for everyone. Because the WLAN module in the multifunction printer supports dual-band. This allows the HP Deskjet Plus 4132 to be connected to 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi networks – this is practical and not a matter of course.
