Text printing with the HP OfficeJet 6951 is very clean and legible. With a paper supply of 225 sheets, the printer is solid, but not exceptionally well-positioned. However, it is positive that there are no complaints about crooked feeding of sheets or even the formation of grooves due to rollers that are too tight – by no means a matter of course in this class. The low print resolution is even more noticeable in color printing. Again, the text printing – also in color – is done very neatly, with large areas of color, on the other hand, the clearly visible borders on the photo are blurred, details are swallowed up. Even on special photo paper, the result doesn’t get much better. The scan quality also suffers from a low resolution, although the quality is sufficient for official applications, at least for pure document scanning. Here, too, it becomes less attractive when images are part of the document. Another problem with copying is the long working time – 30 seconds per page, even with multiple copies. The printing costs are very high with this printer- as with almost all cheap printers in the entry-level segment. The users are correspondingly annoyed. But there is a ray of hope: Thanks to the InstantInk service, you can have ink delivered to you as a subscription for significantly lower costs – provided regular prints are made. The ratio is better for color printing, as the color cartridges are surprisingly much cheaper than the black color. Nevertheless, the page price is at best in the middle range and it is not possible to switch to third-party alternatives. Basically, the HP OfficeJet 6951 printer is well equipped. It masters double-sided duplex printing, there is an automatic sheet feeder and optical text recognition that actually achieves good results. Nevertheless, there are restrictions: For example, scanning is only possible using the onboard scanner, but not using third-party programs (TWAIN). In terms of interfaces, the printer shows itself from the meager side. The only additional feature is WiFi. However, this still works optimally: The connection quality is described as very good. Access by smartphones via this is also considered to be successful, even though androids cause problems in isolated cases. In general, the HP is considered easy to set up. Above all, the process is described as very logical and understandable. The only problems are the sometimes tedious entry of the WLAN key due to the unresponsive touchscreen or the registration for the InstantInk subscription and the free months offered in this context. The touchscreen not only causes problems during HP OfficeJet 6951’s installation, but it is also stubborn in everyday use. Long Wi-Fi keys are particularly annoying as the number fields do not react quickly enough. In everyday use, however, the simple menu structure shines, which fortunately only requires a few clicks.
