The HP PageWide Enterprise Color 556xh from the PageWide Enterprise series has the highest printing speeds – as is typical of the HP Enterprise models – but, unlike the multifunctional devices of the 586 series, is limited to pure printing without a scan or copy function. A little bit of luxury is also good in the office. That’s why HP has given this device not only a modern, bright design but also a generously dimensioned 10.9 cm (4.3 inches) display in color. The fact that operation is faster and more convenient than on the reduced displays of the smaller PageWide printers is no surprise, but it is pleasantly noticeable. The fact that the pages end up in the output tray faster with the HP PageWide printers than with comparable inkjet and laser devices is thanks to the new technology, PageWide is based on ink printing, but its performance is closer to the laser device. HP has promised a top speed of a sensational 75 pages per minute in office mode. Initially in ISO mode, which at least promises 50 pages per minute. And it holds it without major start-up problems, after 7 seconds the first sheet lands in the output tray. The quality is flawless and remains so – with a resolution of up to 2,400 x 1,200 dpi there is nothing to complain about. The HP PageWide Enterprise Color 556xh can increase its speed even further: in Office mode, it proves that even 75 pages per minute are realistic. Incidentally, a mode that is often equated with the classic design mode, but has significantly better quality and is usually completely sufficient in everyday work. This also shows how richly colored and powerful the typical HP pigment inks cover and adhere to the paper, Experience has shown that the printed image with water-soluble inks (dye inks) is often less sharp and precise. The fact that the Enterprise series prints on both sides as standard is definitely one of its highlights. Because even with duplex printing, the device accelerates and continuously delivers top-quality! The cartridges with the highest yields promise up to 16,000 pages in color and up to 20,000 pages in black and white. As a pure printer, the HP PageWide Enterprise Color 556xh should cover a wide range of printing materials. And it also fulfills this expectation, from labels to brochures, from extra heavy to light paper. And another special feature is noticeable: the paper ends up – unlike the classic inkjet – with the print side down in the output tray. Anyone who does not necessarily want to share with their office colleagues everything that is sent to the printer will no doubt welcome this. HP did not skimp on security tools or central management functions, and this benefits the printer when it is used in the network. The proven management software HP Web JetAdmin also ensures efficient central control of the entire printer fleet here – at no additional cost. The HP PageWide Enterprise Color 556xh has all the basics at the start that ensure comfortable working and the highest possible connectivity, Wireless and wired connections (even integrated Gigabit Ethernet), and mobile options such as HP ePrint and Apple AirPrint. Larger offices will benefit from this, especially when there is a lot of work and team members with different equipment.
