The HP Color LaserJet Pro M281fdw proves to be a balanced color laser multifunction printer for the small office or home office. Its dimensions are just so compact that it can easily be placed on a desk. The location speaks for the fact that the HP model is barely audible in idle mode. Sensitive users will, however, move the device to a different location because the noise is clearly noticeable during operation. The printer will be shortlisted if you are looking for a multifunction printer with a fax function. The good output quality and the quite reasonable follow-up costs when using XL toner cartridges can, however, be transferred to the entire model series. The two-sided printing saves paper and with the automatic document feeder, up to 50 originals can be easily scanned one after the other. However, automatic feed does not automatically work on both sides. the HP Color LaserJet Pro M281fdw takes little time to switch from sleep mode to operating mode. A text page is finished after 18 seconds. For comparison: the same print job only takes two seconds less if the printer is already warmed up. Multi-page print jobs show that the printing unit works a little faster at 21 pages per minute than its predecessor. Similar to current inkjet combination devices, HP uses Wi-Fi Direct for the printer in order to work wirelessly without going through the router. The last generation of printers had built on NFC here. There are also connections for LAN, fax, and USB on the housing. The color laser multifunction printer offers a USB host interface on the front of the device for sticks. If you want to print and scan using your mobile device, you can either use the Airprint standards for Apple devices or Mopria for Android mobile devices, but you can also use the “HP Smart” app or Google Cloud print. This covers the main routes. HP ships the HP Color LaserJet Pro M281fdw with PCL-6 drivers. If you want to print Postscript, you have to rely on the printer’s internal emulation. Factory duplex printing is enabled in the driver – a contribution to saving paper.
