The HP Officejet 5740 multifunction printer is ideal for use at home or in a small home office. However, the moderate working speed alone speaks against an excessive need for printing, scanning and copying. A touchscreen with a slightly stiff pressure point makes operation easier. A maximum of 125 sheets fit into the paper tray. There is also an extra photo tray for up to 15 photo papers. Thanks to the built-in duplex unit, this device automatically prints the front and back of a sheet. The multifunction device puts colors on paper harmoniously. The scanner also digitizes the documents with good sharpness but exaggerates a little with red tones. Copies lose a little in quality compared to the original, which is evident in slightly restless color areas and backgrounds. The loss of quality, however, remains within the usual range. For a multifunction device intended for the home office, the printer does not work particularly quickly. Overall, it only achieves adequate results – regardless of the discipline. The device takes a particularly long time to do the preview scan at 21 seconds. The HP Officejet 5740 has two cartridges that form a unit with the print head. The manufacturer itself recommends the multifunction printer for a monthly throughput of 300 to 400 pages. In addition to USB, the combo printer has an Ethernet port, WLAN, Wi-Fi Direct and NFC. This means it offers many ways to connect to it. There is also an SD memory card slot and a USB host port. In addition to the direct connection via NFC, it masters mobile printing via HP ePrint and Apple AirPrint.
