The HPE Aruba AP-305 is a dual-band 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) indoor ceiling-mount wireless access point designed for medium-density enterprise environments. It operates on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, delivering a concurrent data rate of 1,300 Mbps on 5 GHz and 400 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with a peak combined data rate of 1.7 Gbps. The 5 GHz radio uses 802.11ac 3×3 MIMO for up to 1,300 Mbps, while the 2.4 GHz radio uses 802.11n 2×2 MIMO for up to 300 Mbps. Modulation schemes include CCK, BPSK, QPSK, and 16/64/256 QAM, with OFDM and DSSS spread spectrum methods. This access point features three integrated omnidirectional downtilt dual-band antennas and supports MU-MIMO technology, allowing it to handle multiple simultaneous data streams. Each Wi-Fi radio can support up to 255 wireless clients and 16 BSSIDs. For wired connectivity, it includes one Gigabit PoE+ Ethernet port and one USB 2.0 Type-A port. The unit measures 6.5″ × 6.5″ × 1.5″ and weighs 16.22 oz.
On the security and management side, the HPE Aruba AP-305 includes an integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for secure storage of credentials and keys, along with built-in wireless intrusion protection that provides threat detection and mitigation without the need for separate RF sensors. AppRF technology leverages deep packet inspection to classify and control bandwidth across more than 2,500 enterprise applications. Additional features include Enhanced ClientMatch, Aruba Beacons, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and Advanced Cellular Coexistence (ACC).
